Compare
Captcher, Scribe, Tango or Guidde?
An honest comparison.
All four turn a task you do once into training. They differ in what learners can do with it and where it can go. Here's where Captcher is different, and where one of the others is the better pick.
1. Learners do the task, not just read or watch it
Scribe and Tango turn your clicks into step-by-step guides with screenshots. Guidde turns them into how-to videos, and can also make click-through demos where viewers click hotspots to move along. Tango's Guide Me walks people through the steps inside your live app.
Captcher makes one walkthrough that plays two ways. In Show me, learners watch the task play out on the real screens. In You try, they do the whole task themselves: they click, choose and type, get a hint when they're stuck, and see each step confirmed. It runs on frozen copies of the screens, so nothing touches your live app and no real data changes. New hires can practice as often as they like.
Play an example walkthrough and try both modes. No sign-up needed.
2. SCORM without an enterprise plan
If your training lives in an LMS, you need a SCORM package. Guidde lists SCORM on its Enterprise plan only. Scribe's and Tango's pricing pages list PDF, HTML and Markdown exports, but not SCORM.
Captcher exports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 packages, plus a standalone HTML file that plays offline. During the open beta that's free, with no credit card. See which format your LMS needs, or download a sample package and test it in your own LMS.
Captcher's paid plans aren't set yet. When they arrive, we'll tell beta accounts what they cost before anything changes, and we'll never move you onto one automatically. The beta terms say the same.

Checked against each company's public pricing page on 5 October 2026. “Not listed” means we couldn't find it there, not that it can't be done. Products change; if something here is out of date, email [email protected] and we'll fix it.
When another tool is the better fit
- You want a written how-to or SOP to print or paste into a wiki. That's what Scribe and Tango are built for.
- You want narrated videos. Guidde makes how-to videos with voiceover.
- You want guidance on top of the live app while people work. Tango's Guide Me does that. Captcher's in-app Help opens a walkthrough of the part of the screen someone needs, but learners practice on a copy, not in the live app.
- You need team workspaces, admin roles or approval steps today. Captcher doesn't have them yet.
- Your software isn't a web app. Captcher records web apps in Chrome. It doesn't record desktop or mobile apps.
- You need a proven, finished product right now. Captcher is in open beta and some features are unfinished. Exported SCORM and HTML files keep working without Captcher, but hosted links and embeds need it running.
See it on your own app.
Record one task in Chrome and you'll have a walkthrough to watch and practice in minutes.
